Maybe the good innocent children of our nation havent learned to read better because the content that they are given to read …..the subjects, the language no stress on morals etc etc ….you know like McGuffeey’ s readers ….you ought to open one and read them . They will make your heart happy.Some old reading books from catholic schools in the 1940s might be good too …….FYI because kids souls need moral nourishment
