It has become increasingly evident that the Banned Books Awareness column must rise and once again light the darkness of censorship. As most readers are aware by now, the award-winning graphic novel, Maus, has been at the center of a massive censorship effort in McMinn County, Tennessee. I was contacted today by George Edmonson in regards to his GoFundMe campaign to buy and donate copies of Maus to public libraries and the two high schools in the county. He has been a guest on radio, television, and internet podcasts; contributed to various third-party projects; and has material featured in literary publications such as the Mused Literary Review and Punchnel's "Mythic Indy" anthology.
